The history of Kõnnu vodka distillery

The Kõnnu distillery was built in 1841 near the Manor Kõnnu, a noble estate, which at that time belonged to the family of Stenbock. The distillery was in operation until 1918th The last master distiller named Julius Samberg. In 1923 the building was converted into a dairy. The dairy was up in the 1960s in operation. After that the building left neglected

Our paths with the house, an old distillery, crossed in 2013. Yes, it was love at first sight. One cold winter day we saw the house for the first time. Everything was covered with snow. But it had this something special that talked to us. So we exchanged our comfortable city apartment to the wild life of Kõnnu, a small village 60 km from Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. Today the distillery has become our cozy home and studio.

Viinaköögi Gallery

In November 2015, we opened the Gallery where our latest paintings are exhibited. Once a year an international group exhibition will be held.

From the beginning, we have the idea of creating an art center in the Viinaköögi where all art lovers and enthusiasts are welcome. Next to showing your art, we organize painting and graphic courses.
